One Of The Biggest Reasons (Excuses) You Don’t Stick To A Fitness Plan

I’ve worked with hundreds of successful male business professionals in my fitness consulting career, and almost across the board when we do our initial consultation I ask why they aren’t currently exercising the answer consistently is “I don’t have enough time.”
What I want to do next is get in your head a bit if that’s okay.
When you say you don’t have enough time, what you are really saying is “I won’t make the time to commit to exercise to better my health and body.” The cold hard truth hurts, but I don’t believe in sugar-coating or bull shitting. I’ve seen men and women at the gym at 5am. Did they look happy? Probably not, but they were getting it in and most of them looked great. They were making it a priority and not making excuses like “I’m not a morning person”, or “I’ll get it done tonight”.
I’ve had successful busy CEO’s pay me a lot of money every single month to motivate them, hold them accountable and guid them to a healthy lifestyle where not only are they healthier, but most of them have seen a dramatic increase in their businesses (revenues) and improvements in their personal lives.

Get Your Mind Right

We need to get you thinking differently. Your mindset will be one of the most important steps to a successful, healthy and kickass life in your near future.Your mind can play tricks on you a lot of the time. If we can get you aware of this, you will start catching it early, take the different route and start seeing results.
I want you to reflect on your past when it comes to your attempt to lose weight. Go through it in your mind from start to when you quit. Yes I said the dreaded word “quit”. The most common story is starting out like gang busters, you started dropping weight, and then something came up and you let it take priority over your exercise (or nutrition). This could be some kind of party, or event. You told yourself “it’s only one time. It’s no big deal. This is where you need to catch it moving forward, as this creates what I call a slide. Where “it’s only one time”, turns into skipping exercise or blowing off your nutrition for a second day, third day and very quickly your attempt at losing weight and getting healthy is OVER!

Let’s Debunk The “I Don’t Have Time Excuse

Let’s go back to those very successful businessmen I’ve worked with in the past. I had one CEO sitting across from me in his $4 million dollar mansion, trying to tell me he is running a successful company and does not have any time at all to fit exercise into his schedule. Let’s be clear. He inquired about my health and fitness coaching and sought me out. So my mind was “you need me more than I need you”.
Everyone has 24 yours in a day. Doesn’t matter who you are, or how rich you are.
Let’s really get conservative in figuring this out.
  • 8 hours for sleep
  • 8-10 hours for work
  • 1 hour for commute
  • 2 hours to eat all your meals
That leaves between 3-5 hours EVERY DAY to get your exercise in.
When I did this with the CEO mentioned above he had nothing to say other than, “let’s get started!”
Even if you have 1-2 hours of TV watching every night, you STILL have 1-2 hours left. There’s no more excuses!

It Comes Down To Priorities

When you’re a man in your 50’s most likely you’ve spent your 30’s and 40’s working your ass off to provide for your family. For us baby boomers, this is more the norm than not. And while busting your ass for your family, you let your own health slip. Now I’m not saying put the blame on anyone or anything else. I am a firm believer in taking personal responsibility for EVERY choice you make in your life and the outcome from those choices.
But what I’m getting at is now is YOUR TIME. If you have kids they are more independent. The clock is ticking and you’ve got to decide if you want to continue down the path you’re going and getting the outcome you’re getting, or you once-and-for-all take your life back (you deserve it) and get in the best shape you’ve been in, in decades and watch what happens to everything in your life.
When you reach the point of “I’ve had enough, I’m no longer going to accept this in my life”, you will realize saying you have no time has been one big EXCUSE this entire time. You will expose it for what it is and never let that happen again! Will you? No you won’t! I won’t let you.
